Introduction

The Mallorca Special Occasion Restaurants List We Send to Friends

Mallorca's fine-dining scene is stacked with restaurants built for exactly the kind of night that calls for real ceremony: an anniversary, a proposal, a birthday that deserves more than a good meal. Voro, chef Álvaro Salazar's restaurant at the Cap Vermell Grand Hotel in Canyamel, is the only two-Michelin-star restaurant in the Balearic Islands. Restaurante Zaranda runs a tasting-menu dining room inside a former tannery in Palma's old quarter. And La Fortaleza seats just 30 guests inside the restored fortress of Cap Rocat, on the Bay of Palma. The island's estate hotels do a lot of the heavy lifting here. Andreu Genestra cooks his 'cuina de la terra' tasting menus inside a 14th-century manor at Zoëtry Mallorca near Llucmajor, Sa Clastra runs a single wind-themed tasting menu inside the walls of Castell Son Claret in Es Capdellà, and El Olivo serves dinner inside a 17th-century olive mill at Belmond La Residencia in Deià. Further out, Shima brings Nikkei cuisine to a terrace over the Bay of Pollença at Four Seasons Resort Mallorca at Formentor, and Es Balcó de Son Vida reopened in April 2026 on a hilltop above Palma with an entirely renovated dining room. Not every pick here needs a Michelin star to earn its place. Sa Torre serves a weekly-changing menu inside a centuries-old wine cellar on a family-run rural estate, Trobar in Cala Ratjada pairs a rotating cast of chef residencies with hand-made artist tableware across three floors, and Agapanto relaunched its beachfront terrace in Port de Sóller around a whole Sóller lobster course and regular live music. What ties this list together isn't a single style of cooking, it's rooms built for slowing down and marking an occasion properly.

A Guide to Special Occasion Restaurants in Mallorca

Michelin Stars and Repsol Soles, what the ratings mean

Michelin Stars are the Michelin Guide's own distinction for cooking quality, while Repsol Soles are the Spanish Guía Repsol's parallel rating system. A restaurant can hold either, both, or neither, and several restaurants on this list carry both marks alongside a Michelin Guide 'Selected' listing, which flags a restaurant Michelin considers worth a visit without awarding it a star.

Tasting menus are the norm at this level

Most fine-dining kitchens in Mallorca serve a fixed tasting menu rather than an à la carte, often a single sequence built around a theme, whether that's the sun's path through the day, the island's traditional winds, or a chef's own hometown. Expect a long evening, and confirm whether a wine pairing is offered alongside the food.

Book ahead, and expect a card guarantee

Small, high-demand dining rooms across the island increasingly ask for a credit card to hold a reservation, with a cancellation fee if you don't give enough notice. It's standard practice at this tier rather than something to be wary of, but it's worth reading the booking terms for each restaurant before you confirm.

How We Built This List

Years of Eating, Asking, and Going Back

This list draws on Guidavera's own ranking of Mallorca restaurants, built from each venue's own published menus, hours and booking policies, cross-checked against Michelin Guide and Guía Repsol listings where they exist, plus review-sentiment signal aggregated from platforms like TripAdvisor and TheFork. Restaurants were shortlisted for genuinely fitting a special-occasion evening, whether that's a Michelin-starred tasting menu or a beachfront terrace built for celebrations, and ranked using Guidavera's own scoring rather than a single outside source.

Voro is chef Álvaro Salazar's restaurant inside the Cap Vermell Grand Hotel in Canyamel, the only two-Michelin-star restaurant anywhere in the Balearic Islands, and it holds three Repsol Soles too, Repsol's highest distinction. There's a single tasting menu, Devoro, built as a journey through the day, moving from Dawn through Zenith to Sunset across a long sequence of courses that touch Salazar's native Jaén, Mallorca and the Mediterranean. It's dinner only, and the restaurant is closed Saturday and Sunday, so this is a trip you plan around rather than a walk-in. Book through the Cap Vermell Grand Hotel well ahead; a night here is the kind of splurge you build a whole trip around.

MichelinRepsol

Chef Fernando Pérez Arellano brought Zaranda to Mallorca after earning a Michelin star in Madrid and, later, two stars at Castell Son Claret. Today it lives inside the Es Príncep hotel in Palma's old town, with its own entrance and a dining room set over the remains of a former tannery. Dinner moves through several rooms rather than one table, with two tasting menus, 'A flor de piel' and 'Plena flor', both offered with a wine pairing. The mood is quiet and dim, built for a date or a celebration, and chef interaction is part of the experience. Guests must be 16 or older, and booking runs by phone, WhatsApp or email rather than an online system.

La Fortaleza is chef Víctor García's restaurant inside Cap Rocat, a hotel carved into a restored fortress near Cala Blava on the Bay of Palma. The room seats only 30: two-person tables in what used to be the troops' mess hall through spring and autumn, and a rooftop pavilion with Mediterranean views in summer. Two menus run alongside each other, 'Un paseo por Mallorca', built on the island's traditional recipes like stuffed squid and 'variat', and the more seasonal 'El Producto'. It holds two Repsol Soles and a Michelin Guide listing. Expect smart casual dress after 7pm, no phones at the table, and a genuinely intimate, formal evening. Dinner only, Tuesday to Saturday, and booking ahead is essential given the room's size.

Andreu Genestra calls his cooking 'cuina de la terra', cuisine of the land, and it runs through the Mediterranean, the garden and Mallorcan tradition, including native ingredients like carob and black pork that he's worked back into haute cuisine. The restaurant now sits inside Zoëtry Mallorca on the historic Sa Torre estate near Llucmajor, a 14th-century manor house with its own windmill and church. It holds a Michelin Star, a Michelin Green Star awarded in 2020, and two Repsol Soles. Three tasting menus run side by side: Mediterranean, the longer Mediterranean Extrem, and the vegetable-focused Mediterranean Verde. The kitchen is open to the room, so you watch the cooking happen. Dinner only, Wednesday to Sunday, with a smart dress code and a 48-hour cancellation policy.

Sa Clastra sits inside Castell Son Claret, a restored estate in the Calvià hills, and runs one tasting menu, Viento y Memoria (Wind and Memory), built chapter by chapter around the winds that blow across the island, Tramuntana, Gregal, Mitjorn and more, each one tied to a piece of Mallorcan cuisine and chef Jordi Cantó's own childhood memories. Cantó took over the kitchen in 2021, after training at Nerua, DiverXo, Casa Marcial and Zaranda, and earned the restaurant its Michelin Star. You eat within the estate's walls, with a patio for warm-weather dining, and it's a formal, intimate room rather than a high-volume restaurant. Note the estate also runs a second, more casual restaurant, Olivera, so double-check you're booking the right one. Dinner only, Thursday to Saturday.

El Olivo is chef Pablo Aranda's restaurant at Belmond La Residencia in Deià, set inside a 17th-century oil mill that still keeps its original Mallorcan tafona, the old olive press. In summer, weather permitting, service moves to the terrace for views over the village and the Tramuntana mountains. Aranda, from Granada, runs a tasting menu the Michelin Guide calls 'return-to-roots cuisine', Mediterranean at its base with Arabic influences and nods to Federico García Lorca's poetry. Michelin singles out the lamb loin, served with a black olive crust, toasted sheep's milk and artichokes. There's a vegetarian tasting menu on request, and the hotel describes candlelight setting the mood. It holds a Michelin Guide listing and two Repsol Soles. There's also an in-house cheese course and an artisanal chocolate trolley. Can Simoneta Gastronòmic is the fine-dining restaurant inside the Can Simoneta hotel near Canyamel, on Mallorca's east coast. Chef David Moreno, who is Mexican and worked four years as head chef under Andreu Genestra before starting this project, calls his concept 'Mexiterranean', Mediterranean cooking crossed with Mexican flavours and technique. There's no à la carte, just a single tasting menu that walks through that idea course by course. It holds a Michelin Guide listing and a Repsol Sol, awarded in 2023. The dress code is smart casual, and the room feels romantic and cozy rather than stiff, quiet enough for real conversation. Reserve ahead through the hotel, since it's a tasting-menu-only room.

Sa Torre is the restaurant of a family-run rural estate off the MA-3020 between Santa Maria del Camí and Sencelles, run by brothers Pedro and Victoriano López-Pinto, with Victoriano cooking alongside his partner, Carme Jubany Soldevila. The dining room is the estate's old wine cellar, still lined with its original large wine casks, lit by candlelight and wagon-wheel chandeliers. There's a single tasting menu that changes weekly with the season, no à la carte, built on Mediterranean produce, and the restaurant pours from its own private wine collection including an estate-produced label. Note allergies or vegetarian needs when you book, since the menu can't be modified otherwise; vegan menus aren't offered and children under 14 aren't accommodated. Reported open Thursday to Sunday for dinner, so confirm current days directly.

Shima is the Nikkei restaurant at Four Seasons Resort Mallorca at Formentor, on the Cap de Formentor peninsula, pairing Japanese technique with Peruvian ingredients across ceviche, tiradito, sashimi, maki and nigiri, plus a robata grill for hot dishes. It opened in 2025 on a terrace looking out over the Bay of Pollença. Executive chef Francesco Manelli, who trained in Australia including at Four Seasons Sydney, runs two set omakase tasting menus, a signature version and a vegetarian one, alongside an à la carte. The dress code is smart casual, and the sea view sets a special-occasion tone rather than a family-casual one. It's dinner only, daily, and reservations run through the resort rather than a third-party app, since it's a seasonal property tied to the resort's calendar.

#63 of 338·€€€·Es Pelats·Sharing Plates (rotating chef residencies)·Chef: No fixed head chef, the kitchen runs on rotating chef residencies that change every 2 to 4 weeks

Trobar occupies three levels on Carrer de l'Agulla in Cala Ratjada: a rooftop used for dinner, a ground-floor dining room, and an underground cocktail bar called trobasement. Founded in 2023 by Dolli Taylor and Fabio Donghi, it doubles as a gallery and shop for the artists behind Taylor's sister project, trobat.co, and every cup, plate and glass on the table is one of their pieces. The kitchen has no fixed head chef; instead a different chef takes over roughly every 2 to 4 weeks with an entirely new sharing-plates menu, so the food itself is always a bit of a surprise. It's a design-led space built as much for a striking evening out as for the food. Rooftop dinner runs Wednesday to Sunday from 19:00, with a card required to hold the table.

The Special Occasion Restaurants Scene in Mallorca

Mallorca has one of the highest concentrations of serious fine dining in the Balearics, from two-Michelin-star tasting menus inside coastal hotels to family-run estates that have served weekly-changing menus in the same wine cellar for years. This list exists for the nights that call for more than a good meal: a milestone birthday, an anniversary, a proposal, or just a celebration dinner worth building a reservation around.

Practical tips

Know before you go

A short survival guide for eating special occasion restaurants in Mallorca— everything we wish we’d known on our first trip.

  1. 1

    Booking ahead

Several of these restaurants are small, tasting-menu-only rooms, La Fortaleza seats just 30 and Sa Torre serves a single nightly menu, so reserve well before you travel. Some, including Andreu Genestra and Trobar, ask for card details to guarantee the table and charge a fee for late cancellations.

  2. 2

    Dress code

A handful of these rooms enforce a dress code. La Fortaleza asks for smart casual attire in public areas after 7pm, Andreu Genestra rules out sportswear, and Es Fum calls for elegant attire, with long trousers and closed shoes for men.

  3. 3

    Age restrictions

Some of these restaurants have age rules worth knowing before you book. Restaurante Zaranda requires guests to be 16 or older, Andreu Genestra isn't recommended for children under 12, and La Fortaleza and Sa Torre don't accommodate children under a set age.

  4. 4

    Getting there

Many of these restaurants sit inside countryside or coastal hotels well outside Palma, Voro and Can Simoneta Gastronòmic near Canyamel, Shima out at Formentor, Sa Torre near Santa Eugènia, so plan on driving or arranging a taxi rather than relying on public transport.

  5. 5

    Confirm hours before you go

Several restaurants on this list run seasonally or shift their schedules year to year, including Voro, Sa Clastra, Es Fum and Shima, so check current opening days and hours directly with the restaurant before booking.
