Sa Torre is a family-run tasting-menu restaurant inside the historic wine cellar of a rural estate in Ses Alqueries, Santa Eugènia, where the López-Pinto family serves a weekly-changing Mediterranean menu among centuries-old wine casks.

Background

About Sa Torre

The Story

Sa Torre is the restaurant of Sa Torre de Santa Eugènia, a family-run rural estate off the MA-3020 between Santa Maria del Camí and Sencelles. The dining room occupies the estate's old wine cellar, whose vaulted ceiling, at 8.70 metres, the restaurant's own site describes as the tallest of any cellar in the Balearic Islands; the room still holds its original large wine casks and keeps the decoration and atmosphere of the historic building. Sources describe the estate as dating to 1550, and the property's own site separately notes a sixteenth-century kitchen with its original walls and utensils still in use.

The Cuisine

The kitchen serves a single tasting menu that changes weekly, built on Mediterranean, seasonal, local produce; there's no à la carte, so the sequence shifts with what's in season rather than sitting on a fixed carte. The restaurant also pours from a private collection of Spanish and Balearic wines, including its own estate-produced Natiu finca Sa Torre wine.

The Team

The restaurant is run by two sons of the López-Pinto family that owns the estate. Pedro López-Pinto Ivars, the elder brother, oversees the dining room and the wine cellar; he trained at the UIB hospitality school and at a hospitality and restaurant school in Barcelona. His younger brother Victoriano López-Pinto cooks alongside his partner, Carme Jubany Soldevila; Victoriano trained at the Sant Pol de Mar hospitality school, and both he and Carme went on to complete a master's degree in pastry at the Hofmann school in Barcelona.

How to Book Sa Torre

Booking

This is a single nightly tasting menu with no à la carte, served in a small historic cellar, so reserving ahead by phone is the norm. Note allergies or vegetarian needs at the time of booking; per the restaurant's own site, vegan menus aren't available and children under 14 aren't accepted.

Experience

Sa Torre Dining Experience

A vaulted, centuries-old wine cellar with thick stone walls, brick arches and its original large wine casks still lining the room, lit by candlelight and wagon-wheel chandeliers. Tables are dressed in white linen among the historic architecture, giving the room a formal but rustic, romantic feel that's built around the building's own history rather than a designed dining-room look.
