Álvaro Salazar is a Spanish chef, born in Linares, in the Jaén province of Andalusia, in 1985, who leads the kitchen at Voro, inside the Cap Vermell Grand Hotel in Canyamel, Mallorca. He trained at Tragabuches in Ronda and El Portal de Echaurren in Ezcaray, with further stints at Sergi Arola Gastro and kitchens in Paris, Kuwait and Stockholm, before opening his own restaurant, Argos, in Mallorca in 2015, where he won a Michelin star within two years. In 2018 he was named Cocinero del Año, Spain's national chef competition, in its seventh edition. In 2019 he opened Voro, winning a Michelin star in its first year and a second in 2021, making it the only two-Michelin-star restaurant in the Balearic Islands, and the restaurant also holds three Repsol Soles. His single tasting menu, Devoro, runs in three parts, Dawn, Zenith and Sunset, tracing his native Jaén into Mallorca's coastline and the Mediterranean Sea.
