Museo Reina Sofía

The Museo Reina Sofía is Spain's national museum of 20th-century art, opened in 1992 near Atocha station at the southern end of Madrid's 'Golden Triangle of Art'. It occupies a former 18th-century hospital building designed by José de Hermosilla and Francisco Sabatini, which operated as a hospital until 1969 before being renovated as an art centre. The museum is best known for holding Picasso's 1937 painting Guernica, alongside major collections of works by Salvador Dalí.
