Congreso de los Diputados

The Palacio de las Cortes, seat of Spain's Congress of Deputies, stands on Carrera de San Jerónimo in Madrid, built between 1843 and 1850 to a Neoclassical design by architect Narciso Pascual Colomer. Its entrance stairway is flanked by two bronze lions cast by sculptor Ponciano Ponzano, who also created the facade relief of Spain embracing the constitutional state, surrounded by allegorical figures of Justice, Peace, Science and other virtues.
