Background
About Manero Madrid - Marqués de Cubas
The Story
Manero is the brand of Alicante restaurateur Carlos Bosch, who started in 2008 with El Portal in Alicante and opened the first Bar Manero a few metres away on Calle Manero Mollá, which gave the brand its name. His idea is a Spanish luxury bar, 'a Spanish Cipriani' in his words, built on the best tapas produce with as much weight on design, music and service. After the first Madrid Manero on Claudio Coello, this second one opened in October 2024 on Calle del Marqués de Cubas, and like every Manero it takes its theme from the person the street is named after. It's listed in the Guía Repsol.
The Cuisine
Elevated Spanish tapas and raciones built on top produce, much of it under Manero's own label: caviar, which runs through the whole offer, oysters, Santa Pola quisquillas and a 'boat' of seafood, Ibérico charcuterie, gourmet bikinis, a lobster roll and a calamari sandwich, then hot dishes such as the grilled leek with almonds, Carlos's mother's cannelloni, tortillas and croquetas. The kitchen was developed with chef Carles Abellán as the group's culinary director.
Five Rooms in One
The 450 square metres hold five distinct areas. The entrance bar has high tables and two counters. Behind it sits a more formal bistro with a grand piano, live music and a caviar bar, whose menu leans on French classics such as onion soup, a milanesa and fish meunière. There's a Club Manero Dom Pérignon with its own small bar and a corner in homage to Julio Iglesias, a private dining room and reserved areas for events, and a karaoke room to end the night. The drinks list includes wines, cavas, Champagnes and vermouths, many made for the house under its own label.

Manero Madrid - Marqués de Cubas Dining Experience
A theatrical, French-inflected room by interior designer Lázaro Rosa-Violán: velvet walls, gilt trim, hand-made mosaic floors, carved wood and bespoke lamps across two floors. The front bar has two counters, one for charcuterie and seafood on display, one for cocktails, and the soundtrack runs from Julio Iglesias to Raffaella Carrà. Chiquito de la Calzada's jokes play in the toilets, and there's a photo booth.
