About Indian Aroma
The Story
Indian Aroma has served North Indian food on Calle Ventura de la Vega, in the heart of Madrid, since 2005. The house describes India as a country of regional kitchens, each with its own ingredients, spices and techniques, and says its cooks aim to capture those regional flavours from traditional northern recipes. Everything is cooked to order, and the meat it serves meets halal standards, per the house.
The Cuisine
North Indian, cooked fresh to order. Tandoori dishes come out of the tandoor, the clay oven, and the kitchen works from regional recipes and spices across northern India.
The Carta
Starters include samosas (chicken, vegetable or paneer), aloo tikki, pakora, onion bhaji, prawn puri and tikkas from the tandoor, with a mixed tandoori platter. The curry list is long and runs the classic British-Indian and North Indian styles for chicken, lamb, prawns and king prawns: madras, vindaloo, tikka masala, korma, rogan josh, dansak, sag, balti, jalfrezi and kadai, plus butter chicken and a fish curry. Vegetarians get malai kofta, baingan bharta, chana masala, aloo gobi, palak paneer, paneer makhani, bhindi and dal tadka and makhani. There are pulao and biryanis, naan from plain to peshwari, garlic and cheese, parathas and tandoori roti, and kulfi and gulab jamun for dessert.
Tasting Menu, Drinks and Takeaway
A tasting menu brings chicken samosa and pakora, tandoori chicken, chicken tikka masala and lamb curry with pulao and naan, then kulfi or gulab jamun. To drink there are lassis, Cobra and Kingfisher beers, mojito and sangria, and a short Spanish wine list. Takeaway and delivery run through the restaurant's own online ordering and the usual apps; reservations by phone on 913 692 333.
