Barcelona just landed three new two-Michelin-star restaurants in a single night
Enigma, Aleia, and Mont Bar all picked up a second Michelin star at the 25 November 2025 gala in Málaga. Two more Barcelona restaurants, Kamikaze and Scapar, earned their first.
The 2026 Michelin Guide Spain & Andorra, announced at the gala in Málaga on 25 November 2025, added five new stars in Barcelona. Three of them landed at the two-star tier in one night, which is unusual.
The three two-star promotions: Enigma, Albert Adrià's project at Carrer de Sepúlveda 38-40 in Sant Antoni, where Barcelona Obertura describes a 25-course tasting menu carrying forward 'elBulli DNA'; Aleia, on the first floor of Hotel Casa Fuster at Passeig de Gràcia 132, where Paulo Airaudo provides creative direction and Rafa de Bedoya runs the kitchen day-to-day; and Mont Bar, the Diputació 220 gastrobar led by Francisco José 'Fran' Agudo, an elBulli alumnus and former Tickets head chef. Agudo's appetisers include a sobrasada and Mahón cheese mochi and a sea cucumbers carbonara. Enigma's second star arrives seven years after its first. Here's Adrià at the gala: 'Ha sido una sorpresa recibir la segunda estrella, muchas gracias, realmente no me lo esperaba' ('Receiving the second star was a surprise, thank you very much, I really wasn't expecting it'). Outside the city but inside Catalunya, La Boscana in Bellvís (Lleida) also moved up to two stars.
Two Barcelona restaurants earned their first Michelin star. Kamikaze at Rosselló 197 in Eixample, where chef Enric Buendía cooks Asian-Mediterranean, including Catalan mochi with sea urchin and pandan prawn with asparagus, miso, and strawberry. And Scapar at Rector Ubach 53, where chef Koichi Kuwabara, a Dos Palillos alumnus, runs an omakase counter that Michelin describes as combining a 'kaiseki spirit' with local ingredients.
The 2026 edition also brought three new Bib Gourmand recognitions to Barcelona: Bardeni Caldeni (chef Dani Lechuga, València 454, meat and grill); Glug (Iván García and Beatrice Casella, Viladomat 289, contemporary bistro); and Oníric (Jonatan Izquierdo and Laura Humanes, Rabassa 37, plant-forward). No Spanish restaurant was elevated to three stars in this edition.
