Kamikaze is a japanese-mediterranean restaurant in Barcelona's l'Antiga Esquerra de l'Eixample neighbourhood, led by chef Enric Buendia. The concept, which Buendia calls the 'Silent Revolution', fuses Japanese culinary sensibility with Mediterranean and Catalan cooking, built on seasonal produce and precise technique.

Background

About Kamikaze

The Story

Kamikaze is the project of chef Enric Buendia, who trained at both Mugaritz (two Michelin stars, San Sebastian) and Disfrutar (three Michelin stars, Barcelona) before opening his own restaurant. The concept, which Buendia calls the 'Silent Revolution', fuses Japanese culinary sensibility with Mediterranean and Catalan cooking, built on seasonal produce and precise technique. The restaurant earned a Michelin star in the 2026 guide, recognising what inspectors described as 'high quality cooking'. Former co-founder Aritz Ribalta has recently left the project, with Buendia continuing as chef and creative lead.

The Cuisine

Kamikaze offers two tasting menu formats: Menu Kamikaze at €95 and Menu + Maridaje (with wine and sake pairing) at €170. The kitchen works with seasonal Catalan and Mediterranean produce through a Japanese lens, expect dishes that apply Japanese technique and precision to local ingredients. Standout preparations have included beef tataki and razor clams with beans. The menu evolves throughout the year as ingredients change with the seasons.

The Team

Chef Enric Buendia leads the kitchen, bringing training from two of Spain's most technically demanding kitchens: Mugaritz in San Sebastian and Disfrutar in Barcelona. Camila Delani manages the front of house. The compact team delivers a focused, technique-driven service.
