The Story

Xerta is part of the Villa Retiro Grup, founded by chef Fran Lopez who at age 25 won a Michelin star at his Villa Retiro restaurant in the town of Xerta in the Ebro Delta. The Barcelona outpost, located in the Ohla Eixample hotel, held a Michelin star from 2016 to 2024. As Repsol describes, the kitchen translates the recipes and culinary landscape of the Terres de l'Ebre to Barcelona from a contemporary, carefully measured perspective, prioritising flavour and territorial identity over artifice. Chef Jose Guadalupe, from Yucatan and passionate about Mediterranean cuisine, builds menus around seasonality, creamy duck rice with seasonal mushrooms, galera mantis shrimp with truffled parmentier, market fish with lemon-lemongrass sauce.
