Background

About Glug

The Story

Glug is the project of Iván Garcia and Beatrice Casella, the couple who built the restaurant around two of their core passions: wine and food without formality. The name is the sound of wine being poured, a statement of intent. Beatrice, a native of Turin, brings an Italian pastry sensibility to the kitchen: she studied food science and pastry in Italy, worked at the Tudor Room and Hotel Café Royal in London, then came to Barcelona to work with Xavier Pellicer, at the El Bulli group's Tickets, and at Hisop, where she was promoted from head pastry chef to head chef. The restaurant has earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand.

The Cuisine

The kitchen at Glug works with seasonal Catalan ingredients filtered through an Italian lens, the result is a creative small-plate format combining the best of both traditions. Michelin inspectors have praised dishes such as onion soup and 'buttons' of Comté cheese. The menu changes regularly, organised around approximately 8 sharing plates at €35 per person. Wine is an equal partner: 300+ bottled references, 6 taps, and a rotating by-the-glass programme. Beatrice's desserts are a signature, they are the backbone of 's 'Postres' tag for the restaurant.

The Team

Iván Garcia leads the savoury kitchen and Beatrice Casella heads the desserts and pastry. Together they run both the kitchen and the front of house, maintaining a personal, hands-on presence behind the bar counter, the elongated pass that lets chefs and diners interact directly throughout the meal.
