Biography
Early years
García trained in Catalan kitchens including Direkte Boqueria and Aürt — both Michelin-starred Barcelona restaurants — before partnering with chef Beatrice Casella.
Career
García and Casella later worked together at Cucine Nervi and spent roughly a year living in Italy together, an experience that shapes the cooking at their own restaurant. In June 2024 they opened Glug on Carrer de París in la Nova Esquerra de l'Eixample — a 38-seat space built almost entirely around the bar where the chefs cook and plate in front of guests. In late 2024 the couple were jointly named 'Cuiner 2024' at the Fòrum Gastronòmic Barcelona, and Glug earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand in the 2026 Spain guide.
Philosophy
García and Casella describe Glug as a cuisine designed for sharing — a Catalan base with subtle Italian touches, built around the counter so diners watch plates being assembled. Signature dishes include stuffed Gordal olives with Catalan-style chicken and an onion soup with Comté buttons.
