Biography

Early years

Izquierdo built his early career through stages at significant Spanish kitchens — Nova in Ourense and Disfrutar in Barcelona — before joining Jordi Cruz's Atempo.

Career

Izquierdo and his partner Laura Humanes both worked at Jordi Cruz's Atempo — Izquierdo in the kitchen and Humanes in the dining room — before launching their own restaurant. They opened Oníric on Carrer de Rabassa in Gràcia, with Izquierdo running the kitchen and Humanes leading service. The restaurant runs three tasting menus: Herrén (a five-course weekday lunch tasting at €24), Oníric (eight courses), and Somni (twelve courses). Oníric earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand in the 2026 guide.

Philosophy

Izquierdo's cooking is described as modern cuisine built from common sense and expressive technique, with a small menu and three tasting formats that scale by length and ambition. The room is small and the kitchen open, designed around close contact between chef and diner.
