Matadero Madrid

Matadero Madrid occupies a former municipal slaughterhouse and cattle market in the Arganzuela district, built between 1911 and 1925 in a functional, rationalist style with Neo-Mudéjar decorative details. The complex operated until the slaughterhouse closed in 1996, and Madrid City Council converted it into an arts and culture centre that opened in 2006. It now hosts exhibitions, theatre, design and film programming across the industrial-era pavilions.
