💚 📍 Buenas y Sant

About Buenas y Santas
The Story
'Buenas y santas' is how people still greet each other in the villages and countryside of Argentina, where cooking runs on homemade, natural, fresh and organic produce. The restaurant took that as its starting point when it opened in Legazpi in June 2009, updating the recipes with a gourmet touch. It's run by an Argentine family team, now 17 years into cooking for the neighbourhood, and grows some of its own vegetables in a kitchen garden.
The Cuisine
Argentine home cooking: empanadas closed by hand to old recipes, milanesas and Argentine cuts, burgers, quiches, sandwiches, gourmet salads and homemade desserts, with new dishes each week according to the market and the season. There are vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options, marked on the menu.
The Carta
Empanadas come in carne, pollo, atún, queso y cebolla, verdura, humita and jamón y queso (€3.90 each, less to take away), or as tasting sets from three vegetarian ones to seven, one of each. Milanesas come classic, Napolitana with ham, tomato and mozzarella, or Porteña with serrano ham, dried tomato and provolone (€16.50 to €19.90), and the grill side runs to entraña (€22.90) and bife de chorizo (€25.90). There's also grilled provoleta, a mezze board, homemade quiches such as mushroom and ham or roast pumpkin with pine nuts, salads, burgers including a homemade vegan carrot-and-lentil one, and pumpkin ravioli in black-truffle sauce. Desserts are €6.90: dulce de leche panqueque, a two-chocolate brownie, cheesecake, apple crumble and a decaf tiramisu.
Menú del Día and Takeaway
Monday to Friday at lunch, except holidays, there's a home-style menú del día at €15.30 built on seasonal produce, which changes weekly and is posted on the website. For takeaway there are deals such as ten empanadas plus two free (€32), five quiches plus one, and combos pairing an empanada, a milanesa, a dulce de leche panqueque and a Quilmes. Lunch runs every day from 13:30 to 16:00, with dinner on Thursday until 23:00 and on Friday and Saturday until 23:30; book by phone or WhatsApp.

Nearby
Legazpi is a barrio in the Arganzuela district that has shifted from industrial wholesale markets to a newer mix of offices and apartment blocks along the Manzanares. Matadero Madrid, the old slaughterhouse turned cultural centre, sits nearby along Madrid Río, and the eating scene has grown up around that redevelopment. It still reads as a neighbourhood finding its final shape.
