About Mercat de Pollença
What you'll find
Pollença's Sunday market fills Plaça Major and spills into Plaça de Ca les Monnares and the streets between them. The Balearic Government's tourism service counts around 300 stalls, which makes it one of the bigger weekly markets on the island. The food side covers agricultural produce including organic growers, cheeses, cured meats, baked goods, olives and honey. The rest is flowers, clothing, leather and craftwork. The square itself, with the plane trees and the church steps at one end, is a good part of the reason to go.
When to go
Sunday, 08:00 to 13:30. That's a short window for a market this size, so arriving in the first half of the morning gives you the run of it. Note that Port de Pollença holds its own market on Wednesdays, which is a different market in a different place: if you're looking for the big one in the old town, it's Sunday.
Eating around the market
Six ranked Guidavera restaurants sit within a short walk of Plaça Major, two of them essentially on the square: Q11 at about 41 metres and Restaurante La Fonda de l'Aigua at 44. Pollença is one of our better-covered towns outside Palma, with 20 ranked venues in and around it.
