Parc Natural de s'Albufera de Mallorca

The largest and most important wetland in the Balearic Islands, covering about 1,708 hectares on Mallorca's north coast between Alcúdia and Can Picafort. It formed from an ancient lagoon that has been gradually filled by sediment, in part through human activity, and is fed mainly by the Torrent de Sant Miquel. Five ornithological observation points have recorded more than 300 bird species here, and the site was declared a bird Special Protection Area in 1987.
