The Alcúdia market sets up inside the walled medieval old town, which gives it a better setting than most: stalls run along the streets inside the walls rather than around a modern square. It's a mixed market. Fruit and vegetables and local produce sit alongside clothing, leather and craftwork, and the food stalls run to the island staples of dried fruit, nuts, olives and cheese. It's one of the busiest markets on the island in season, largely because of where it is.

When to go

Two days in the old town: Tuesday and Sunday, 8:00 to 13:30, per the Ajuntament d'Alcúdia. There's a separate market down at Port d'Alcúdia on Plaça de Cas Vicari on Fridays, same 8:00 to 13:30. If you're searching for the old town market specifically, Tuesday and Sunday are your days. Since it closes at 13:30, the back half of the morning is the last useful window rather than the start of one. The ajuntament also runs two annual fairs: a nautical and cuttlefish fair in April at the Port, and the Alcúdia Fair in the old town on the first weekend of October.
