The building

The hall was built in 1905 as Palma's slaughterhouse, an Art Nouveau design by Gaspar Bennasar, one of the city's best-known architects of the period. The name people search for is often just s'Escorxador, which is the Catalan for the slaughterhouse and now refers to the whole complex. The market kept the industrial frame and filled it with stands and terraces.
