Teatro Real

Teatro Real is Madrid's opera house on Plaza de Oriente, formally opened by Queen Isabella II on 19 November 1850, originally designed by architects Antonio López Aguado and Custodio Moreno. It was later renovated by Jaime González Varcárcel, Miguel Verdú Belmonte and Francisco R. Partearroyo, and now seats 1,958 people. Considered one of Europe's most prestigious opera houses, it stages around seventeen opera productions and two or three major ballets each season.
