Puerta de Toledo

Puerta de Toledo is a Neoclassical triumphal arch built between 1813 and 1827, commissioned by King Ferdinand VII and designed by architect Antonio López Aguado, to commemorate the Peninsular War and the restoration of the monarchy after French occupation. Its central semicircular arch is flanked by two lintelled side doors. It is considered the last of Madrid's monumental gates to be built within the city's historic perimeter.
