Mamúa is an Argentine parrilla on Plaza de Cascorro, at the top of El Rastro, that grew out of a café: its own site still carries a 'Café & más' menu next to the grill menu, food, wines, drinks and catering. Cuts like entraña and lomo alto of Angus beef come off the grill, with milanesas, choripán and pizzas alongside, and there's a terrace out front. It's open daily from 12:30.

Getting There

On Plaza de Cascorro at number 7, right at the top of El Rastro, in the Embajadores barrio of Madrid's Centro district.

Nearby

Embajadores is old working Madrid, dense and unpolished, and it rewards anyone willing to walk its side streets. The eating runs from taverns that have been there for generations to newer rooms doing something quite different. El Rastro spills through it on market days, and Lavapiés is the same conversation continued uphill.
