Background
About Sole Mio
The Story
Sole Mio is the project of Gastón Nicolás, an Argentine, and Olha Krismanova, a Ukrainian who was already a barista at home. After the war began in Ukraine she came to Madrid, and together they opened the café around 2023, taking both the name and the idea from Italian culture.
The Cuisine
Specialty coffee from origins such as Ethiopia, Colombia, Costa Rica and Brazil, under a 'farm to cup' philosophy, plus breakfast, brunch and homemade sweets.
Coffee and Merienda
Beyond espresso drinks there are specials like a pistachio latte and a pumpkin spice latte, matcha and even Argentine mate, and the couple have started roasting their own Bolivian coffee, from the family farm of one of the team; beans are sold to take home. To eat there are toasts and crisp sandwiches, Argentine empanadas, cheesecake, brownies, croissants and cookies, and the house speciality, a berlina filled with pistachio cream. Some sweets are made in house and others come from small home bakers, and seasonal bakes use produce from the market itself, like a Pink Lady apple tart.

A tiny corner room full of windows, with coffee served in vintage porcelain the couple collected on trips to the Rastro. It's calm and unhurried, dog-friendly and good for families.

Nearby
Justicia is the quieter, better-dressed half of the Chueca side of town, all narrow streets and small shopfronts. Mercado de San Antón anchors the eating, and around it sit grill rooms, wine bars and places that fill late. It is central without ever feeling like the centre.
