Background

About MACERA Taller Bar

The Story

The MACERA concept was born in 2015, built on reviving maceración, a traditional Spanish technique of infusing spirits, to make its own drinks in-house. The team buys alcohol in bulk and macerates it on site with natural ingredients such as citrus, red berries and cinnamon, keeping the whole thing independent of commercial brands. MACERA has since opened a second bar in Chamberí.

The Cuisine

The bar pours around twenty house-macerated spirits across gin, whisky, vodka and rum, from rum with cinnamon and orange to herb-infused gin, alongside its own natural soft drinks, signature cocktails built on the house spirits and the classics. There are also sandwiches, cakes and pastries.

Getting There

On Calle de San Mateo, on the border between Malasaña and Chueca in central Madrid.

Nearby

Malasaña is where the city keeps its energy, a tight web of streets that turns over fast and stays up late. The eating is young and restless, with vegan kitchens, coffee bars and creative rooms wedged between places that have not changed in decades. It runs down to Gran Vía, and it rewards walking without a plan.
