About Pampa Beef

The Story

La Pampa, known as Pampa Beef, is an Argentine steakhouse in the Barrio de las Letras, on Calle del Principe near Plaza de Santa Ana. It is open every day of the year.

The Cuisine

Argentine parrilla: charcoal-grilled meats, empanadas, provoleta and cuts such as ribeye, alongside affordable home-style dishes.

The Carta

Entradas cover provoleta with truffle oil, criollo chorizo, morcilla, empanada criolla, sweetbreads with lemon or chimichurri and Ibérico ham. The meats come with chips or salad and are split by origin: Argentine lomo alto (€26), a 600 g chuletón for two (€50) and solomillo, plain or with pepper sauce; and Spanish cuts such as vacío, tira de asado, entraña and a Black Angus burger (€15 to €18). There are pizzas and pasta too, and two sandwiches: the 'Pampa' of sirloin with chimichurri and a choripán.

Daily Menu and Bookings

A menú del día runs on weekday lunchtimes from 13:00 to 16:00 (no bookings for it, and not served in December), and a lomo alto menu is available every day. The kitchen serves from 13:00 to 23:00 and the restaurant closes at midnight. Groups of more than eight are asked for a €50 Bizum deposit, returned on the bill; call 913 69 10 06 or 641 44 33 97.

Getting There

La Pampa is on Calle del Principe, in the Cortes barrio of Madrid's Centro district, the area known as the Barrio de las Letras, between Plaza de Santa Ana and Puerta del Sol.

Nearby

Cortes sits between the parliament and the museums, so the pavements carry politicians, visitors and locals in roughly equal measure. The eating covers everything from cocktail rooms to serious kitchens, often behind doors that give nothing away. Congreso de los Diputados and Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza bookend it.
