Background

About Prada a Tope

The Story

Prada a Tope is the Barrio de las Letras branch of a León brand founded in 1972, built around the products and food culture of El Bierzo. The brand grew out of its founder's push to give the region's traditional products a wider audience.

The Cuisine

The cooking is traditional Spanish with El Bierzo at its heart: cecina, artisan cured meats cured in the region, and a wine list drawn from the Bierzo. The pantry goods used in the kitchen are also sold to take home.

The carta

Starters are built around León charcuterie: cecina, chorizo, lomo, León morcilla, lacón with roasted peppers or cachelos, and an empanada from Cacabelos. Spoon dishes include caldo berciano with beef broth, white beans and greens, and the vegetables lean on the brand's own roasted Bierzo peppers, alongside the house tortilla guisada and grilled mushrooms.

The cellar

The wine list is a tribute to Bierzo, running from young carbonic-maceration reds through roble to reservas, and you can buy bottles to take home along with the pantry goods.
