Background
About Florentine
The Story
Florentine is the Madrid outpost of a restaurant group that also runs Florentine in Stockholm and Marbella. It sits at the top of the WOW Concept building on Calle de Serrano, in the Salamanca district, and styles itself on 1970s Italy.
The Cuisine
Traditional Italian built for sharing, served from lunch through to 01:00 every day. The carta runs from antipasti like Burrata Pugliese and tuna tartare to pastas (truffle tagliatelle, a two-person carbonara), Neapolitan pizzas and grills such as a Bistecca alla Fiorentina sold by the kilo.
The rooftop
The restaurant covers 650 square metres and seats up to 220 under the open sky, according to its own site. The rooftop runs a cocktail and wine list alongside the Italian menu, and the site also lists a separate Cielo rooftop space and private hire.
Music and late nights
Resident DJs play through the evening, and the house pitches the room as one that shifts from dinner into a later bar crowd. If you want a quieter meal, lunch is the calmer slot.

Nearby
Recoletos runs along the grand boulevards between Plaza de Cibeles and Puerta de Alcalá, where the buildings are stately and the pavements are wide. The eating leans formal and expense-account, with classic dining rooms sitting beside newer, sharper kitchens. It shades into Salamanca as you go east, and the prices follow.
