Background
About Nuara
The Story
Nuara opened in 2025 as the newest member of the Familia Nuri group, a lifelong Barcelona family of restaurants that also operates Ca la Nuri, Xiroi, Bar Nuri and Arrozal. Positioned on the remodelled Balcó Gastronòmic del Port Olímpic, Nuara was conceived as an ode to the Mediterranean, a restaurant built around the daily catch from the lonja (fish market), wood-fired cooking, and the family's decades of paella tradition. Within its first year the Repsol Guide recommended Nuara as one of the best restaurants of 2026, and the restaurant was awarded the Biosphere Sustainable distinction for its work sourcing locally, using renewable energy, reducing plastic and promoting accessibility.
The Cuisine
The menu is a celebration of sea and fire, 'cuina de mar i de foc', structured around four pillars: wild fish from the Cantabrian and Mediterranean coasts, fresh shellfish direct from the lonja, DO-certified Basque and Galician meats cooked on the charcoal grill, and paellas built on local, seasonal produce. The ephemeral Preludi a la Primavera tasting menu (€58) showcases coastal produce from the Barcelona shoreline at the change of seasons, while the wine cellar focuses on small-production organic and local labels from Catalan and Spanish appellations.
The Team
Nuara is run by the Familia Nuri team, a Barcelona restaurant family whose roots in local Mediterranean cooking span generations. The kitchen is dedicated to honouring the product, treating each fish, each cut of meat and each grain of rice with respect, and the front-of-house delivers the warm, family-style service that defines the group's restaurants.
