Volta is the restaurant at the base of the hotel, Mediterranean cooking rooted in Italian tradition: seasonal produce, handmade pasta and sharing plates, running to a tomato salad with hazelnuts, ricotta and balsamic, tagliatelle alla Bolognese, and Iberian pork pluma with smoked aubergine, mint yoghurt and pomegranate. Volta Bar works the Italian aperitivo ritual: coffee and pastries from Funky Bakers next door under a skylight by day, cocktails and independent Italian wines by night. Five floors up, the 180° Rooftop Bar has a pool and looks over Parc de la Ciutadella and the skyline. Guests go up without booking and towels, fruit, water and sun cream are provided; everyone else is welcome from late afternoon. Pilar Zeta's egg sculpture is up there too.
