Background
About Cadaques
The Story
Cadaques opened in December 2019 as the Mediterranean rice-focused concept from the Sagardi Group, founded in Barcelona in 1994 by brothers Inaki and Mikel Lopez de Vinaspre. While the group is best known for its Basque restaurants, Cadaques is their homage to the cuisine of the Alt Emporda region. The restaurant is housed in the historic Porxos d'En Xifre, a 19th-century arcade on Barcelona's portside. A Madrid location followed in early 2020.
The Cuisine
The Sagardi Group kitchen team cooks rice over selected woods using traditional techniques. The menu features Emporda-style slow cooking including meatballs with cuttlefish, stuffed pig's trotters, fricandeau, and monkfish with burnt garlic. Fresh seafood from Roses and the Ebro Delta. Signature rice dishes include arroz brut, Cadaques rice, rice with lobster, and rice with duck and salsify.
The Team
Cadaques is operated by the Sagardi Group kitchen team, the hospitality group founded by brothers Inaki and Mikel Lopez de Vinaspre in Barcelona in 1994. The group is known for preserving traditional cooking techniques.
