Background

About Egeo

The Story

Egeo began here in Lavapiés as a small take-away inspired by the souvlaki counters of Athens, which the group says shook up how Greek food was eaten in Madrid at the time. More than ten years on, the site still calls this the heart of the project, which has grown to four venues across Madrid and Valencia.

The Cuisine

The kitchen does healthy Mediterranean food, fresh and prepared in a few minutes from high-quality ingredients. Egeo imports Greek staples like DOP cheeses and yogurt, lists ingredients and allergens on its menus, and keeps a wide vegetarian selection.

The 2026 carta

Souvlaki and gyros menus with a drink run €14.90 to €22.90, or €25.90 for the lomo alto gyro with dessert. To share there's tzatziki, melitzanosalata, fava and tyrokafteri, horiatiki and dakos-style salads, mini spanakopitas and tiropitas, grilled feta, revithokeftedes and halloumi skewers, plus moussaka, lamb mini-kebabs and a mixed grill for two (€32.90).

Experience

Egeo Dining Experience

This is a small take-away counter rather than a full dining room, kept deliberately informal, modelled on the souvlaki counters of Athens. The kitchen leans on good product and quality, moving quickly from fresh Mediterranean ingredients to a finished dish, and imports Greek staples like DOP cheeses and yogurt to keep the flavours close to the source.

Getting There

Egeo's first location is on Calle de San Carlos in Lavapiés, a short walk from Lavapiés and Tirso de Molina metro.

Nearby

Lavapiés is a steeply layered corner of central Madrid, a tight grid of narrow streets where the cooking comes from everywhere at once. The rooms are small, the prices are honest, and the good ones fill with regulars rather than reservations. Museo Reina Sofía and CaixaForum Madrid sit uphill from it, El Rastro at the bottom.
