Allegra is Grupo Isabella's second Madrid restaurant, opened in June 2023 at Calle Velázquez 11 in Recoletos. Chef Luca Mazzini's carta draws on the great Roman classics, with house-made pasta and Italian produce, and the Art Deco room is built around a black grand piano: live music comes in with dessert and the night turns into a party. It's open every day and listed as Recomendado in the Guía Repsol.

Background

About Allegra

The Story

Allegra opened in June 2023 as the second Madrid restaurant of Grupo Isabella's, after its first on the quiet passage of Calle de Puigcerdà. The group began in Barcelona with Isabella Heseltine and is now led by her son Marco Garí; its restaurants include Isabella's, Bella's, Harry's, Julieta's, Gala and Carmina. Studio Quintana Partners designed the room to recreate the classic, sophisticated feel of an opera café, with a black grand piano inspired by Madrid's Art Deco at its heart. The Guía Repsol lists it as Recomendado.

The Cuisine

Classic Italian, inspired by the Roman hits and made with Italian produce and pasta made in house. Signatures include spicy rigatoni vodka, zucchini fritti, carciofo alla romana, and spinach and ricotta ravioli with butter and sage, alongside tortelloni al tartufo, cacio e pepe and pappardelle bolognese, carpacci, a vitello tonnato of sirloin and a sirloin milanese with truffle and egg.

Prices and the Business Lunch

Published prices have included zucchini flowers at €12, Bologna mortadella at €16, vitello tonnato and tuna-belly carpaccio at €20, spinach ravioli at €24, rigatoni for two at €38 and the milanese at €33, with desserts such as vanilla and fig panna cotta or Nutella crêpes at €8.50. On weekdays there's an Italian business lunch built on the house icons, such as the tortelloni al tartufo, the spinach ravioli and a tagliata of sirloin with rosemary and parmesan. The room also takes private celebrations.

Experience

Allegra Dining Experience

Elegant and theatrical, with heavy curtains, carpet, lacquered wood, mirrors, candles and warm reds, and different spaces at different heights. Dinner stays calm until dessert, when the grand piano starts: jazz one night, Cuban son another, or a DJ or singers, and the room slowly becomes a club.
