About VIET NAM
The Story
Chef Duong, a native of Hai Phong in Vietnam, opened the restaurant on Calle de las Huertas in 2013 with recipes from the family, and the house says it was the first Vietnamese restaurant in Madrid. It received a Mención de Honor for foreign cooking in the Premios Metrópoli, and there's now a second location in Cañaveral.
The Cuisine
Vietnamese, traditional and ingredient-led, with vegetarian options. The menu lives on the restaurant's own site, which covers both of its Madrid locations.

The menu covers the classics: phở bò, beef soup with rice noodles in a long-cooked broth (€10.50), bún chả of grilled Iberian secreto with rice noodles, fish sauce and herbs (€14.90), nem fried rolls and fresh summer rolls with Vietnamese ham, prawns and vegetables, and coconut curries of chicken, beef, pork, seafood or corvina with jasmine rice, from about €14 to €17. VIET NAM is on Calle Huertas in Barrio de las Letras, the old literary quarter with quotations set into the paving, a short walk south-east of Puerta del Sol.
Nearby
Barrio de las Letras is the old literary quarter, narrow and atmospheric, with quotations set into the paving. The eating is unusually varied for so small an area, from taverns and cocktail bars to kitchens working at a serious level. Museo del Prado and Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza are on the doorstep.
