L'Incanto
L'Incanto
L'Incanto is a market restaurant inside the Mercado de la Guindalera, on Calle de Eraso in the Salamanca district, and it holds a Solete in the Guía Repsol. The cooking is traditional, home-style Sicilian: burraponata, aubergine parmigiana, lasagne, chitarrine alla carbonara and Roman-style pinsa, made with Italian products and fresh produce bought in the market itself. It works through the day, from breakfast with Italian croissants to a weekday menú del día and the carta at lunch.
Background
About L'Incanto
The Story
L'Incanto is a Sicilian gastrobar in the Mercado de la Guindalera, and its logo carries the Trinacria, the three-legged symbol of Sicily. The Guía Repsol gave it a Solete in its 2022 neighbourhood round, describing it as a market restaurant with traditional Sicilian home cooking, excellent service and a well-priced daily menu.
The Cuisine
Sicilian and southern Italian. According to the menu, every dish uses products of Italian origin, while all the fresh ingredients come from the Mercado de la Guindalera. Pastas, lasagnes and antipasti share the carta with Roman-style pinsa, and there are coeliac-friendly options.
The Carta
The house plates include burraponata, a Sicilian caponata of aubergine, celery, capers, olives and sweet-sour tomato with burrata cream; buffalo caprese on confit tomato; melted provolone on black focaccia with caramelised onion; and a Genoese focaccia with porchetta and scamorza. The pastas run from lasagne bolognese, vegetable or with Sicilian-style sausage and fried aubergine, to strigoli with pesto and ricotta salata, chitarrine alla carbonara with guanciale and pecorino, busiate alle vongole with bottarga, and rigatoni all'amatriciana, mostly between €9.50 and €15. The Guía Repsol also recommends the aubergine parmigiana and the truffle pizza.
Pinsa, Dolci and Drinks
Roman pinsa comes in versions such as rianata with anchovies, capers and pecorino, anchovy with stracciatella and almonds, prosciutto e funghi, ortolana with truffle oil and a truffled tartufata. Desserts are cannoli, pistachio panna cotta, tiramisù and a cold coffee cream. The wines are Italian, with Nero d'Avola, Primitivo, Montepulciano and Inzolia by the glass or bottle and a Prosecco, plus Sicilian beers such as Ichnusa and Messina, spritz, amaro and limoncello.
Breakfast and Hours
Mornings start with espresso or cappuccino and croissants, plain, grilled or filled with ricotta, Nutella or pistachio cream, at a few euros for a coffee-and-croissant breakfast. It opens Monday to Thursday from 09:30 to 17:00, Friday from 10:30 to 16:30 and Saturday from 10:00 to 16:30, and closes on Sunday. The menú del día runs Monday to Friday.
