Background

About Caradura

The Story

Caradura is the project of the Argentine Tomás Prodel, pitched as 'not so fine dining': the polish of a smart room without the formality, food that's careful but unfussy, across brunch and dinner.

The Cuisine

Expect a bistro menu that mixes the classic with a contemporary edge, sandwiches and brioches among the signatures, and a brunch that has become its calling card.

How it works

There are no reservations. Brunch runs Wednesday to Saturday from 11:30 to 15:00, and dinner Thursday to Saturday from 20:00 to 23:30. The house's own posts show its 'matrimonio' of hand-cut beef alongside ham and cheese, and plenty of wine; Friday nights tend to run late. It closes for a summer break in August.

Getting There

Nearby

Chamberí is an elegant, residential district north of the centre, quieter and more grown-up than Malasaña or Chueca. Calle de Ponzano cuts through it as one of the city's best-known tapeo streets, and the surrounding blocks mix classic bakeries and neighbourhood bars with a wave of newer, more ambitious kitchens.
