Background

About Bosco de Lobos

The Story

Bosco de Lobos sits in the garden of the Colegio Oficial de Arquitectos de Madrid, and the house's own one-line description of itself is an Italian tucked away in that garden. It's part of Grupo Tragaluz.

The Cuisine

The house keeps the summary to three words: antipasti, pasta and pizza.

What's on the Carta

Spuntini and antipasti include rosemary focaccia, 'nduja bravas, aubergine and sun-dried-tomato croquetas, fried olive-stuffed mozzarella with spicy marinara, an Italian charcuterie board, fried pizza with mortadella, squacquerone and pistachio pesto, and parmigiana di melanzane. Pastas run from classic fettuccine alla bolognese and cacio e pepe (with optional truffle) to goat's-cheese ravioloni with sage and lemon, mezze maniche alla carbonara and calamarata with tomato and olives. Pizzas range from Margherita and Marinara to a calzone of porchetta and smoked scamorza, a black pumpkin pizza with goat's cheese, a diavola with fennel and one with truffle, egg yolk and fontina. Meat and fish include vitello tonnato, grilled baby squid, red tuna, steak tartare and a veal tagliata, and desserts are tiramisù, parmesan cheesecake and ricotta and pistachio cannoli.

Hours and Booking

The restaurant opens from 13:00 every day, until 01:00 Sunday to Thursday and 02:00 at weekends, while the kitchen serves lunch from 13:30 and dinner from 20:00, until 23:00 most nights and midnight on Friday and Saturday. Experience

Bosco de Lobos Dining Experience

A garden inside an institutional building sets the tone: you're off the street without being far from it, and the house plays that up in how it describes itself. The kitchen is uncomplicated by design, antipasti and pasta and pizza rather than anything that wants explaining.

Getting There

Bosco de Lobos is inside the Colegio de Arquitectos building on Calle de Hortaleza, in Chueca, in the Centro district. The restaurant occupies the building's garden, which is why the house describes itself as an Italian tucked away in it.

Nearby

Chueca is loud, confident and social, and the eating is built for sharing and staying out. Mercado de San Antón is the anchor, with bistros, cocktail rooms and all-day places filling the streets around it. It is one of the easiest parts of the city to eat well in late.
