About Topik

The Story

Topik has been at Carrer de València, 199 in l'Antiga Esquerra de l'Eixample since 2009, when chef Adelf Morales opened the restaurant with his wife, interior designer Eva Mele. The kitchen is built on the principle that 'la millor cuina és sempre la més senzilla' (the best cuisine is always the simplest), a quote from Catalan writer Josep Pla that defines the restaurant's philosophy. Over the years, Topik has evolved into a professional produce-led kitchen with Asian influences, earning a Repsol recommendation and building a loyal Eixample following.

The Cuisine

Mediterranean kitchen with Asian touches, 'cocina de producto sin complicaciones' (uncomplicated, produce-led cooking). Exquisite product quality. Good selection of Gouthier oysters and Galician sea urchins.' praised the combination of Japanese, Catalan and Mediterranean techniques. Seasonal dishes include suquet de espardeñas (sea cucumber stew), wood pigeon with broad beans and black trumpets, stuffed hare, and red tuna pastrami with café de Paris. Average spend €60 per person.

The Team

Chef Adelf Morales trained at Martín Berasategui (Lasarte), Bodegón de Alejandro (San Sebastián), Ca'Sento (Valencia), Ca l'Isidre (Barcelona), and Arzak (San Sebastián) before heading to Italy to work at Antica Osteria del Ponte (Milan), Pierino Penati (Lecco), and as head chef at the Casino in San Remo. He then spent three years travelling and cooking in Japan, training in izakayas and traditional restaurants in Osaka, which cemented his approach of respecting the product. He opened Topik in 2009 with his wife, interior designer Eva Mele, and has led the kitchen since.
