Nuria
Nuria has been trading on La Rambla since February 1926, when the founders opened the room with what they say was the first draught-beer tap in Barcelona.
Background
About Nuria
The Story
Nuria opened in February 1926 on Rambla de Canaletes, inspired by Parisian cafés and reportedly installing the first draught-beer tap in Barcelona. Through nearly a century of change on La Rambla, it has served generations of Barcelonians, survived a fire in the 1980s and been a fixture for visiting artists and FC Barcelona fans celebrating at the neighbouring Font de Canaletes. The dining room now displays a permanent mural exhibition featuring one artist per decade from the 1930s to the 2010s.
The Cuisine
Traditional Catalan and Spanish cooking with a broad, family-friendly carte. The menu spans tapas (patatas bravas, ham croquettes, tortilla, Iberian ham, Andalusian fried squid), four paellas, grilled meats and fish, salads, burgers, pizzas and pastas, and a section of homemade desserts including crema catalana and cheesecake. A weekday lunch menu runs Monday to Friday from 13:00 to 15:30 for €16, with four starters, four mains and three desserts plus drink and bread.
The Team
Nuria is operated by CORVI S.A., part of the Restaurants de les Rambles group founded by the Vila and Cortadellas families. The restaurant has passed through multiple generations of owners since the original founders Josep Vila and Marcel·lí Cortadellas opened it in 1926.

Nuria Dining Experience
The ground-floor dining room has chequerboard tile floors, mirrored walls, art deco detailing and ceiling fans, with a long marble bar at the entrance. Downstairs a separate Celler space with exposed beams, stone walls and vineyard murals is set up for groups. The overall feel is that of a classic Rambla café-restaurant that has kept its vintage fittings while adapting to a steady mix of locals and visitors.
