Street
La Rambla
Barcelona's most famous street, a tree-lined pedestrian boulevard about 1.2 kilometres long running from Plaça de Catalunya down to the Columbus Monument at Port Vell, separating the Barri Gòtic from El Raval. Its name comes from an Arabic word for a seasonal watercourse, reflecting its origin as a drainage stream outside the medieval walls. It is home to cultural landmarks including the Gran Teatre del Liceu opera house, the La Boqueria market, and a Joan Miró pavement mosaic.
