The building goes back to 1862 and the family's story started downstairs, in a bar called Centric that people remember for the grandmother's vermouth. Writers like Josep Pla and Roberto Bolaño passed through. A guesthouse, Hostería Grau, opened in 1960, and the family reworked it in 1993 before turning it into today's eco hotel. The renovation followed LEED guidelines, and the interiors lean on recycled and restored furniture, FSC-certified wood, low-VOC paints and organic mattresses. Rooms run from doubles to a 40 m² Deluxe with three windows onto a vertical garden, plus family studios and apartments with kitchenettes or full kitchens. There's even an Off Room built to cut electromagnetic radiation.

There's no restaurant, but breakfast is a proper thing here: organic, local and made in the hotel's kitchen, with sourdough from a nearby bakery, Catalan cured meats and cheeses, homemade cake, and vegan and gluten-free options on request. It's an optional add-on, so check your rate. Upstairs, El Terrat is the rooftop terrace with an honesty bar, organic wine, Catalan craft beer and seasonal tapas, open April to November. The lounge has coffee, tea and homemade cake for guests each morning.
