Square
Plaça Reial
Plaça Reial is a neoclassical public square in the Barri Gòtic, just off La Rambla, built on the site of a Capuchin convent demolished in 1835. It was designed in the mid-19th century by architect Francesc Daniel Molina i Casamajó, and its ornate lampposts were an early commission for a young Antoni Gaudí. Lined with palm trees, arcaded restaurants and historic music venues, it is one of the city's liveliest gathering places.
