The Story
Animal Coffee is a small artisan specialty-coffee roaster and barista-training lab in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, on the western edge of Barcelona. It grew out of a café in the Sant Gervasi neighbourhood and evolved into a roaster and school, and today it roasts its own coffees weekly, working only with 100% arabica sourced from small producers and cooperatives. The house style is deliberately lighter than commercial roasts, with each origin roasted separately to draw out its own notes. You'll find single-origins and blends across the bar and in the online shop think a natural seasonal blend, Mexico La Tribu, Perú Carnaval, Colombia Huila and Honduras Comsa brewed as espresso or filter, with beans (whole or ground) to take home. Alongside the coffee, the space doubles as a training room kitted out with machines, grinders and barista tools, running courses from basics to latte art.
