Background

About Patacones de mi Tierra

The Story

A Colombian restaurant on the east side of Madrid, trading on 'el auténtico sabor colombiano' -- the authentic Colombian flavour it puts on its own sign.

The Cuisine

Colombian, with patacones (fried green plantain) and empanadas at the centre of the menu.

Patacones and Arepas

The patacón, a flattened, fried green plantain, is the base for most of the carta: a mixto of shredded chicken and beef with hogao and avocado (€8.50), a paisa with corn, bacon, Santa Rosa chorizo and chicharrón (€12), a Mexican one with beans and cuajada, BBQ ribs, and a patacón parrilla loaded with beef, chicken, chicharrón, chorizo, morcilla and arepas (€20). Arepas run from plain with quesillo or cuajada (€4.50) to stuffed versions and a Super Arepa (€11). There's a bandeja paisa (€16), salchipapas, Colombian burgers and hot dogs, a Cuban sandwich and beef empanadas at €1.80 each.

Breakfast and the Weekday Menu

The kitchen opens from 09:00 for Colombian breakfasts, and Monday to Friday there's a set menu of soup, a main and a drink for €12. There are kids' combos, and orders can be placed for pickup through the restaurant's own site.
