Background

About Menudeo

The Story

Menudeo calls itself a casa de comidas with a Cádiz soul in the middle of Madrid: honest cooking without artifice, a busy bar and the taste of the south. The kitchen is run by chefs Ricardo Romero, originally from Cádiz, and Manuel Romero, and it comes from the same team as Colosimo, whose Instagram it shares posts with.

The Cuisine

Andalusian home cooking with a Gaditano accent. Chacinas include Barbate mojama with almonds, artisan butifarra from Chiclana, lard-cooked tongue and presa cured in ham fat, alongside the house tortilla de patatas and comforting guisos.

The carta

House plates include a cabracho pastel made with amontillado, a prawn ensaladilla with manzanilla mayonnaise and langostinos al ajillo finished with Sanlúcar manzanilla. From the sea there's hake in salsa verde with prawns and clams, and semi-adobada corvina with pilpil. Meat runs to beef ribs cured in spices and lacquered in PX, crisp sweetbreads, rabbit meatballs and Iberian cheeks slow-cooked for more than a day.

Prices

Chacinas come in half and full portions at about €9 to €18, croquetas are €13.50, and the bigger fish and meat plates sit around €23 to €25. There's a €1.80 per-person service charge.
