La Cueva de Lola is an intimate flamenco tablao on Calle Mancebos, in the La Latina corner of Palacio near Plaza Mayor and the Palacio Real. The two-floor room keeps the brick of a 17th-century cave, and you watch guitar, cante and baile up close over a la carte bites or a drink at the cantina.

Background

About La Cueva de Lola

The Story

La Cueva de Lola was set up by four flamenco artists who had toured national and international stages and wanted a tablao of their own, run to their own standard, in the centre of Madrid.

The Cuisine

It is a flamenco venue first: alongside the show you can order a la carte bites, and the cantina pours beer, wine and tostas in a room that fuses tradition with a more modern feel.

Experience

La Cueva de Lola Dining Experience

It is small and made for watching flamenco close up, the kind of room where the rhythm carries. Downstairs the old cave holds the show; the cantina alongside is where people settle in for a beer, a wine or tostas in a setting that mixes old brick with something more modern.

Getting There

On Calle Mancebos in the Palacio barrio, the stretch the venue itself counts as La Latina, a few minutes from Plaza Mayor and the Palacio Real.

Nearby

Palacio is the grand, historic western edge of the centre, wrapped around Palacio Real de Madrid and Plaza de Oriente. The eating runs from tavern cooking that has not changed in generations to small rooms doing something quieter and more modern. Teatro Real and Jardines de Sabatini set the pace, which is slower here.
