About Casa Bucho

The Story

Casa Bucho is the new name at Calle de Trafalgar 22, where Mamacampo used to trade; its own site puts it plainly, 'Mamacampo ahora es Casa Bucho'. It now runs as a tavern and cocktail bar on Plaza de Olavide, with room for group events and a catering service for companies, press launches and film shoots.

The Cuisine

Tavern cooking and snacks: gildas, Iberian ham croquetas, ensaladilla, layered millefeuille bravas, grandma's empanadillas, torreznos and fried baby squid, plus sandwiches like a pastrami mollete and a pork pibil brioche, grilled Iberian pluma, and desserts from an Idiazábal cheesecake to a brioche torrija.

Getting There

At Calle de Trafalgar, 22, on Plaza de Olavide in Madrid's Chamberí district. Quevedo (L2), Bilbao (L1/L4) and Iglesia (L1) are all a short walk away.

Nearby

Trafalgar is the calm shoulder between Malasaña and the wider avenues, residential enough to feel lived-in and central enough to walk out of. The eating skews to neighbourhood favourites and small confident kitchens rather than destinations. It gets quieter, and better value, the further you go from Gran Vía.
