Background

About The Library

The Story

The Library sets itself up as three things at once, a wine boutique, a gastronomic bar and a private club, as a homage to wine and the people who enjoy it. The name is a deliberate double meaning: a library, and in English also a private wine cellar. The shelves, modelled on grand palace libraries, hold around 3,500 references, from the big Spanish, French and Italian houses to the New World and emerging wine countries such as Georgia, Romania and Greece.

The Cuisine

By the glass there are close to 80 wines, reds, whites, rosés, sparkling, fortified and sweet, with a delicatessen selection built to bring out the wines. Sandro Silva, cook and co-founder of Grupo Paraguas, designed a pairing style where the wine leads and the food follows. Next to the kitchen, a small, private room serves the executive chef's tasting menus, with an optional pairing, or an à la carte option.

The Team

The Library is part of Grupo Paraguas. Its cook and co-founder Sandro Silva shaped the food-and-wine concept, the executive chef runs the tasting-menu room, and a team of sommeliers works the floor.

Experience

The Library Dining Experience

The room is built to feel grand without tipping into ostentation: oak shelving against black-and-white marble floors, modelled on old palace libraries. The décor, the sommeliers and the by-the-glass list are the draw. There's a dress code and right of admission, with door staff to match.
