The Story

Tandoor is a second-generation family restaurant. Chef Ivan Surinder Chitra's father, Surinder Oberoi, was the first Indian gastronomy chef in Spain, opening Barcelona's first Indian restaurant over 30 years ago. When his father passed away, Ivan decided at age 18 to become a chef and took over the restaurant at 23. He trained for nine months at Albert Adria's Tickets, which he calls 'the best masterclass of my life'. Ivan also co-hosted the TV3 cooking show 'Cocina como puedas' alongside Marc Ribas and pastry chef Sofia Janer. His mother Poonam Chitra continues to be involved in the family business. The sister venue Mirch Barcelona By Tandoor operates nearby.

Chef Ivan Surinder Chitra serves contemporary northern Indian cuisine rooted in family tradition with modern touches. Signature dishes include oyster with mango and tamarindo (4.70 EUR), samosa (8 EUR), tandoori chicken (14 EUR), corvina tandoori (19 EUR), butter chicken (14.90 EUR), sheek kebab with avocado and mango (9.50 EUR), and chocolate and cardamom samosa dessert (8 EUR). Spice levels adjusted to preference. Around 40 EUR per person without drinks.
