Cinc Sentits, Catalan for "Five Senses", opened in 2004 on Carrer d'Aribau, founded by Jordi Artal, a self-taught chef born in Barcelona to a family with roots in La Torre de l'Espanyol, Tarragona. The original dining room was tiny: a handful of tables, an intimate atmosphere, and a kitchen cooking modern Catalan with seasonal precision. Michelin awarded the first star early in the restaurant's life; the second followed as the kitchen's ambition and consistency deepened. In the years before 2026, Cinc Sentits relocated from its historic Aribau home to a new, purpose-designed space on Carrer d'Entença, three distinct rooms, olive trees from the chef's ancestral Tarragona village at the heart of the design, and a new chef's table overlooking the kitchen. Repsol describes the move as trading "a tiny dining room on Aribau" for "a welcoming space with three distinct areas where olive trees from the chef's homeland are a fundamental part of the imagery."

The Cuisine

The kitchen's philosophy is rooted in what Michelin inspectors call "a strong Catalan DNA": floreta peas from the Maresme coast, prawns from Palamós, onions from Figueres, pork from Sagàs. Jordi Artal works exclusively with trusted small-scale producers, and no ingredient appears more than once across the menu. Two seasonally changing tasting menus are offered: the Light Menu (€189, shorter) and the Tasting Menu (€219, the full experience). The website describes each course as "a moment of deliciousness" designed to build into a chain of sensations. Repsol notes that every dish deliberately seeks "a contrast between ingredients, textures, and aromas so the diner never tires of the same flavour." The wine pairing, exclusively Catalan and Spanish wines from boutique producers, focused on heirloom and local grape varieties, is described on the website as "a highly recommended" addition. Reservations are required and strongly recommended well in advance. Cinc Sentits operates with only nine tables, making availability scarce. The restaurant is open Tuesday through Friday for dinner only (18:15–22:00), and on Saturdays for both lunch (13:30–14:30) and dinner (20:30–21:30). Monday and Sunday are closed.
