Quimet & Quimet has been a family bodega on Carrer del Poeta Cabanyes since 1914, when the original Joaquim opened a wine shop selling wine produced at the family estate Can Pascual in El Bruc, near Montserrat. All male heirs have been named Joaquim -- 'Quimet' is the Catalan diminutive, and the doubled name reflects father and son working together behind the bar. Now in its fifth generation under Joaquim (Quim) Perez, the bodega evolved from a simple wine shop with anchovies and olives into one of Barcelona's most celebrated tapas bars.
The Cuisine
There is no kitchen. Quim assembles montaditos (small open-faced sandwiches) behind the bar counter, combining premium conservas (tinned seafood), cured meats, cheeses, and fresh ingredients. The most famous montadito is salmon with Greek yogurt and truffled honey. Others include anchovies with Nevat cheese, artichokes with Brillat-Savarin and caviar, foie gras with volcanic salt, and torta del Casar with chestnut. Over 500 wine references and house vermouth on tap. Around 25 EUR per person.
